The BOSM English Press sat down with Payasvi Jain, the Coordinator of the Department of Live Events, for a quick chat on the department’s role and responsibilities in the upcoming fest.
Payasvi started by mentioning that the department’s main role was to invite artists for concerts and organise professional shows in fests. Additionally, they also organised ‘Adventure Zone’, an event typically held in GymG, which included small games such as air hockey, balloon shooting, and punching machines.
Payasvi explained that the department’s work began with finding a suitable artist who appealed to the general public while simultaneously fitting within the set budget. Pre-fest work included publicising the professional show and organising mess signings.
Their work during the fest included ticketing, hospitality, and stage production during professional events. They employed the help of various vendors to organise the stage setup in South Park for concerts. Payasvi stated that though most artists were very accommodating, some artists were ‘a little hard to deal with’, and the department had to struggle to cater to their needs.
On her experience as coordinator, she mentioned that the work was a lot more demanding than expected, and that there was a lot of pressure to get the work done on time. In her parting words to the GBM, she urged people to attend the concerts and see the work that the department had put in to make it happen.
