The BOSM English Press recently sat down with Devyansh Manchanda, the coordinator of ComHub, to talk about the club’s role in the fest.

Devyansh stated that the club mainly conducted two events during BOSM: N2O and Back to School. ComHub is the only stand-up comedy club in BITS, and a few of its members were recruited every year to perform as the opening act of N2O, a professional stand-up show. The club also hosted Back to School, a small event usually occurring on the road in front of LTC, where participants got to play games like hopscotch, three-legged race, dodgeball, and other games reminiscent of their childhood. This year, the club presented the idea of a BOSM Inaug presentation and awaited confirmation from the CoSSAc for the same.

When asked about the challenges they faced, he said that in previous years, being a new club that had started only in 2021, it had faced multiple issues regarding room booking. This had drastically improved this year, and they were even assigned the NAB Audi for the Fresher Show that they conduct annually. The club had also focused on media outreach, gathering up to 1.5 lakh views on their Instagram page.

Talking about the recruitment process, Devyansh stated that it was slightly different this year. The comedy workshop was open only to the newly recruited members rather than the free-for-all process it usually was. He noted that the club had big plans for its N2O opening during BOSM, and preparations had been going smoothly.

Devyansh ended with the secret of what made a good joke: relatability. He explained that connection came through shared human experiences, and the audience always connected with what they understood.
