FitBITS

With BOSM 2026 right around the corner, the BOSM English Press (BEP) sat down with Kabir Ugale, the coordinator of FitBITS, to gain insight into all the events they had in store for this edition of the fest.

Kabir stated that this year, FitBITS would be organising a three-kilometre ‘Neon Night Run’ during BOSM, with participants wearing glowing blue bands on their wrists. He highlighted that the event was primarily aimed at members of the GBM who were not part of sports teams. He noted that previous events had seen a turnout of 70 to 100 people, and that they hoped to cross the 100-participant threshold this time.

When asked about the club’s preparations, Kabir explained that they had pitched their plans for the fest to the Sports Council early in the summer vacations. He also spoke about the club’s plans to expand beyond the cycling and running events it had conducted previously, with callisthenics being a major addition this semester. He added that he and his team were looking to build a dedicated community around these sports, and were looking to add street lifting to it— a strength training sport that involved weighted dips and pull-ups—and were also in talks with the Sports Council for its integration into the existing powerlifting structure.

Recounting his experience as a BOSM coordinator, Kabir said coordinating with the Sports Council as well as the CoSSAc had been smooth, and thanked them for their support. However, he did mention that managing these responsibilities with his other commitments had been rather challenging.

On a parting note, Kabir encouraged the GBM to participate in FitBITS’s events during BOSM as well as the other activities they had planned throughout the semester, and hoped these initiatives would help make sports a more accessible part of campus life for students beyond the existing sports teams.
