Table Tennis (Boys)

With the fest just around the corner, the BOSM English Press sat down with Kushal Patel, the captain of the Table Tennis Boys’ team, to know more about their preparations and participation in BOSM 2026.

Kushal explained that the Table Tennis team had put in a lot of effort this time, and he was optimistic about the outcomes. They trained twice a day—once in the morning and once in the evening—with each session lasting for two hours. Their training included warm-ups and fitness drills followed by sequences. The coach would also conduct multi-ball training rounds in which multiple balls were quickly fed to the player. This drill helped the team enhance their speed and agility.

As BOSM inches closer, the team has made its practice sessions even more rigorous. They increased their training hours, and the coach had also been pretty intense with the team. The team also has a clear goal in mind: winning at BOSM. He considered other BITS campuses to be their archrivals. He also talked about colleges from Delhi University, particularly Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Hansraj, and Sukhdev, as teams with great players and a legacy.

Last year, in BOSM, the team secured a silver medal, and in singles, Kushal himself got a silver medal. Apart from that, they participated in several other table tennis tournaments, such as Inter-BITS, NIT Jaipur, and UPES Dehradun, and brought laurels to the institute.

Talking about the team’s strengths, Kushal noted their strong team spirit. They trained, played with each other and improved on their mistakes through constructive criticism. Kushal was elated to share that the new recruits this time have been really good. The new recruits were finally inducted into the team after about two weeks of probation. According to Kushal, they were very well prepared to face opponents in BOSM.

Kushal praised the CoSSAc for their constant help and support. He didn’t complain about any lack of resources and equipment. One thing that he did point out was the delay in the coach’s arrival.

Kushal urged the entire GBM to have a good time at BOSM. Furthermore, he encouraged attendees to show up for the matches where BITS is playing and support them to boost their confidence.
