With Oasis ’26 on the horizon, the Oasis English Press sat down with Sannidhya Dutt (Joint Coordinator) and Sarthak Saxena (Secretary) of the Public Policy Club (PPC) to talk about their plans for this edition.
On a regular day, as Sarthak stated, the members worked on the core philosophies of solving real-life situations, brainstorming socio-political issues and writing literary pieces—articles and papers—on the same. Sannidhya added that most PPC members were UPSC aspirants, and so were the club’s alumni. l. He further added that when preparations for the fest began, the club worked persistently on their signature events—Realpolitik and Politpoly, which this time was renamed Monopolitic.
Regarding their events for the upcoming Oasis, they stated that they planned to establish a pre-test to select their final twenty teams for Monopolitic. He explained that this change in format ensured the game remained more skill-centric rather than based on sheer luck. He noted that they had also added some mini-games to Realpolitik.
Given the popularity of these events, he remarked that managing a high footfall was one of their challenges. He stated that they had worked on it to shorten the game’s duration, so that people are not glued to their spot for hours and could enjoy all the other events.
In their attempt to sync the events with the fest theme, ‘Dawn of the Djinns’, they stated that they sought to make their events more engaging by redesigning certain components of these games. Sannidhya explained that weeks before Oasis, the club deliberated over the plans. He shared that even when the club members had differing viewpoints, they engaged in an active discourse to get the best of all perspectives.
Sannidhya added that this whole experience was very profound, with the fresh recruits and their predecessors coordinating like one big family. He expressed his satisfaction with the outcomes of the pitching meetings with the StuCCA. Even though their final quote was not met, he shared his contentment that they still secured a higher prize pool for their events, which would ensure that events were organised exactly as planned.
With Oasis fast approaching, both Sannidhya and Sarthak looked forward to seeing their team’s hard work pay off during the fest. They suggested that fellow BITSians follow the guidelines laid down for the fest, so that they can enjoy Oasis to the fullest.
