Karaoke Club

With Oasis ’26 just around the corner, the Oasis English Press (OEP) sat down with Vidur Gupta, the Coordinator of the Karaoke Club, to gauge the club’s plans and preparations for this edition of the cultural extravaganza.

Vidur began by explaining that the Karaoke Club—popularly referred to as KC on campus, focused on producing karaoke music which was then vocalised by its singers. He explained that KC was different from the myriad of other music clubs on campus because they were not bound by the limitations of conventional instruments in producing their music.

As the conversation moved to the fest itself, he revealed that instead of the club’s legacy event—Scontro, which was a DJ battle, they would be conducting two entirely new events namely Beat Battle and Karaoke Booth. Beat Battle, a music production competition, had its initial rounds scheduled on Unstop. Vidur confessed that the club’s production vertical was ‘not doing so good,’ and that he hoped this event would spur them back to life. Producers would get ten minutes to come up with new beats, using tools and equipment provided by sponsors and would be judged on the basis of their creation, he added. Karaoke Booth, quite self-explanatory in its name, was meant for people to come together, sing and have a good time.

He explained that the club worked together on every task related to the fest and that there was no bifurcation of tasks on the basis of either batch or vertical. As for the status of work done so far, Vidur proudly informed the OEP that most of the work was complete. He added that the work had not been hectic thus far, seeing as the club had been working consistently towards executing their events for the fest.

Vidur described his biggest hurdle to be managing his juniors since certain things would occasionally slip through the cracks. However, he noted that the advantage of starting early was that he had enough time to iron out these minor creases.

On a parting note, he remarked that he now truly understood the troubles his seniors went through in managing the club, but acknowledged that being Coordinator had been a great learning experience overall.
