Tanishq Thorat, the coordinator of Inspired Karters Electric, took some time off of his busy schedule and sat down with the Oasis English Press for a short interview, where he gave us a sneak peek into the ongoings of IKE for Oasis.
IKE is a team of automobile enthusiasts who work on building and designing Formula-style Electric Vehicles (EVs). The club has recently started participating in Oasis and aims to represent the F1 community, on and off campus during the fest. Tanishq explained that IKE plans on hosting three events — the F1 Quiz, the F1 Simulator, and the live screening of the Mexican Grand Prix in FD-2 QT. He explained that the F1 Simulator would allow the participant to experience a Formula-esque journey via VR elements and haptic feedback.
He remarked that his job as a coordinator is to streamline the process of procuring the equipment for the simulator, and the budgeting and negotiation for the same. Thorat shared that getting the best deal for the racing simulator is a major challenge they face each year. He also opined that the hardest part of this role was contacting dealers from Delhi to avail the best deal in order to generate a profit.Â
Apart from that, the club has prepared a questionnaire for the participants of the F1 Quiz, keeping in mind that it is not just competitive, but also fun for the participants.
‘I think it’s <sic> widely accepted that F1 is the fastest growing sport today and we aim to represent that trend through our events, giving the required thrill the participants desire. Hence, we aim to cover F1 not only as a sport but also as a source of entertainment’, shared Thorat. Thorat believes that a club like IKE provides an opportunity to learn the ‘tech bits’ while offering keen management and operations experience. He concluded by encouraging all attendees to consider signing up for their events for a fun experience.
