BITS Pilani Consulting Club (BPCC)

The AEP sat down with Medhansh Jain, the APOGEE coordinator of the BITS Pilani Consulting Club, to learn more about the club’s plans for the fest.

For APOGEE 2024, the BITS Pilani Consulting Club will be organising two events  ‘CaseQuesta’–their kernel event—and a workshop about careers in finance, creative agencies, venture capital, and private equity.

Regarding his club’s kernel event, Medhansh mentioned that it comprised three rounds. The first round was a quiz held online on March 17. It comprised 60 questions related to accounting, finance, consulting and general knowledge. The next round would be an online proposal submission round, where the shortlisted teams must submit a proposal about a given problem statement by March 25. The 20 teams shortlisted from the previous round will get the opportunity to come onto campus and present their final cases offline to a panel of three judges, all of whom are industry experts in their respective fields. The final round would take place over the last two days of the fest.

He stated that the preparations for the event began at the beginning of the semester. The club members were divided into two teams —the outreach team, and the ‘question team.’ The outreach team was focused on increasing the number of registrations and participants for the event, whereas the ‘question team’ was focused on making questions for the ‘case prompt’ and the quiz rounds.

Talking about the challenges they faced, he explained that he and his team had to start from scratch to find new speakers, judges, and even a prompt for the final round on short notice. Apart from that, they also faced a few problems in outreach, as finding the contacts of 2500 potential participants was not easy.

When asked about the evolution of the club, Medhansh mentioned that although he joined the club quite late, he has seen a drastic change in the structure of the club. In spite of a significant prize pool, the club’s previous attempt at conducting ‘CaseQuesta’ garnered relatively less participation. Medhansh called his experience as coordinator “wonderful” as he had never been able to bond or work with his juniors to this extent in any of his other commitments. He described it as being wholesome but also acknowledged the stress one undertook and the difficulties one faced as a coordinator.

Medhansh said that he had huge expectations from this year’s edition of APOGEE. He said that the artists, and standup comedians coming for the professional shows were quite famous and recognisable.
