The APOGEE English Press sat down with Kanav Kapoor, the Coordinator of the Coding Club, to learn more about the work they do during the fest.
Kanav began by highlighting the multiple verticals within the club. He talked about how each of these verticals had its own goals throughout the year; however, all of them converged and worked together during APOGEE to plan and execute various events.
He explained that one of the events organised by them would be the International Coding League (ICL)—BITS Pilani’s flagship competitive coding contest. 40 teams, each up to two members, would compete over two rounds. Another event, Decrypt, would not test your competitive knowledge or algorithmic skills, but rather your logic and ability to think outside the box.
Kanav also talked about Code Duels, which would be a timed, head-to-head duelling arena, with dynamic matching based on a rating system. It would be a new event, held on a new platform made by the web development vertical.
To round it off, the last event would be a showcase of what the game development vertical had been working on, a virtual reality game where players must use various superpowers to defeat enemies and protect hostages.
Kanav mentioned that all of these events were pretty much ready and only needed some finishing touches.
When asked about his experience as a coordinator, Kanav described it as an illuminating experience, where he learned how to manage the different organs of the club, with different goals and functions. He said the experience had been great so far, and wishes that the fest goes well.
