Communo

The English Press Club sat down with Aaryan Nagda, the APOGEE Coordinator of Communo, to discuss the club’s plans for the upcoming fest.

Aaryan explained that Communo is a skill development club focused mainly on improving the communication and leadership skills of students. They conducted regular sessions with juniors and prepared them for external competitions, debates, and MUNs at institutes like Delhi University.

Aaryan mentioned that the club will conduct two events, namely Pragra and Scavenger Hunt. Pragra is their annual ‘speaker event’, involving a panel of guests who give a talk and interact with the audience. In past editions of the fest, the club had invited content creators and chartered accountants. Aaryan stated that they were still in the process of finalising a guest for this edition of the fest.

Aaryan explained that in the second event, Scavenger Hunt, which they plan to conduct just before the fest, participants would be registered in groups and would be allotted two hours to complete a list of tasks. He explained that there are a variety of tasks, such as recording a reel and dancing with other participants. The tasks were specifically designed to encourage communication with strangers and to let students step outside their comfort zones. He noted that the tasks and judging panel (consisting of Communo leads) were finalised, and only the poster design remained.

When asked about the club’s preparations, Aaryan stated that brainstorming began at the beginning of the semester. Regarding setbacks, Aaryan remarked that the only issues faced were with regard to prize money allotment. Although none of Communo’s events is linked to the technical theme of the fest, ‘Under the Steel Skies’, Aaryan emphasised their relevance to the broader themes of APOGEE as a fest. He stressed that soft skills complement knowledge very well, stating that ‘with tech skills you also need soft skills’.

Aaryan reflected that his personal experience leading the club had been ‘very nice’. He said the transition into the coordinator role had been very smooth. He also added that the club members shared great chemistry, which led to harmonious coordination.

Lastly, Aaryan requested BITSians to attend their events. He added that the scavenger hunt would include lots of interesting surprise tasks, and guaranteed a memorable experience for all students.
