In an interview with the Oasis English Press, Aayush Paurana, the StuCCAn for the Department of Controls (Controls), shed light on the work they essay during Oasis.
Aayush explained that Controls manages the logistics that underpin the fest’s success, from prize money and rule enforcement to event scheduling and permissions. He highlighted that a notable achievement in this regard was that prize money has now been increased by approximately 8.2% to make the fest more attractive to participants.
Aayush prefers to be known as the “Head of Logistics” within Controls. He underlined the significance of meticulous event management, especially considering that Oasis is a continuous, 96-hour-long fest. He remarked that Controls has prioritised minimising the delays in order to limit the inconvenience caused to participants and organisers alike. He opined that efficient planning and coordination will help avoid such delays, citing the example of Rocktaves 2022, where excessive delays led to most attendees leaving the auditorium.
Reflecting on past challenges, Aayush acknowledged that the disruption caused by the pandemic has led to a knowledge gap, requiring each batch to relearn the fest’s intricacies. However, he is confident that this year, with accumulated experience, Controls and other departments are better equipped to minimise inefficiencies.
Aayush remarked that his experience as the StuCCAn has been incredibly fulfilling and addressed the workflow in his department. He acknowledged that the intensity of work within the department necessitates some relaxed meets where the department gathers and spends quality downtime with each other.
Aayush believes that this year’s Oasis will surpass its predecessor. He encouraged everyone to stay for the fest and enjoy it to their fullest.
