The APOGEE English Press sat down with the CoStAAn of the Department of Controls (Controlz), Nishit Gupta, to know more about their progress with fest work. 

Controlz is responsible for the overall logistics of the fest, ranging from requisitions to reprography. Nishit explained that the department is organised into various verticals, corresponding to different logistical streams.

Nishit said that timings posed an issue, as the 2022 batch had their semester break shortly before their seniors’ mid-semester examinations commenced. He added that this impacted the department’s overall time management. He explained that they overcame the issue by allocating remote work to juniors, so that tasks are completed nonetheless. He acknowledged that had such a situation not arisen, the youngest batch of Controlz would have gained work experience quicker.

Nishit highlighted the dynamic nature of the work when asked about what was left to be done by Controlz. He said that their work could not be considered finished until the fest was completed, due to the highly flexible nature of the existing schedules.

Nishit also spoke about the kernel event being organised by the department—the Project Prototype Presentation. This is one of the oldest events in the fest, tracing its history back to the first edition of APOGEE. He said that while the first round had been conducted back in mid-February, the second and final round will be conducted during APOGEE.

Nishit shared that his experience as a CoStAAn came with exposure to multiple challenges, which he had enjoyed taking on. On a parting note, Nishit urged all BITSians to enjoy the events organised during APOGEE and wished them a wonderful experience.
