DVM – Adarsh Bhardwaj

The APOGEE English Press interviewed Adarsh Bhardwaj, the CoStAAn of the Department of Visual Media (DVM), to discuss their preparations for APOGEE 2023. DVM is accountable for managing the technical facets of the fest such as video production, website development, and app development.

Adarsh explained that the theme for this APOGEE, Hivemind Genesis, was decided by ADP and DVM in consultation with the other CoStAAns. The objective was to include all the sciences that were present on campus and expand beyond the usual fields of robotics, electrical, and mechanical engineering that are commonly associated with tech fests. The theme aims to unite the different fields of sciences under a single banner.

To represent the hivemind of the fest, the website includes a 3D model of the human brain. Adarsh mentioned that they have improved their performance since last year, designing a fully 3D website for the first time. He also hinted at a surprise gamification element in the APOGEE 2023 app.

Adarsh mentioned that since they began their preparations early, the department encountered no major obstacles this year. Coordinating the technical aspects of the fest and collaborating with other club coordinators to ensure a successful fest gave Adarsh a sense of satisfaction. DVM is looking to expand its game development team and provide more user-friendly experiences for participants not only during APOGEE but throughout the year.

Adarsh remarked that the lockdown break brought upon a huge difference in campus tech culture and sent a message to the freshers, urging them to attend as many events as possible during APOGEE 2023. He expected this year’s fest to establish a new benchmark for APOGEE and urged students to utilize this opportunity to learn and engage with speakers and events.
