Department of Legacy

The Oasis English Press sat down with Aryan Agarwal, the Oasis Coordinator of the Department of Legacy (DoL), to learn about the club’s preparations for the fest.

According to Aryan, the club would be responsible for hosting an inauguration party on Day One of Oasis at SAC which would include a DJ, food stalls, face painting, and other activities centred around this year’s Oasis theme, Dawn of the Djinns. He explained that securing the DJ’s availability had been a big challenge and described the DJ’s inclusion as one of the major highlights of this year’s event. Aryan estimated the club’s profits to be ₹50,000 if attendance met expectations.

Additionally, Aryan stated that the club would assist another club, Accord, in organising and conducting the professional shows and N2O events during Oasis. He noted that the arrangement had not been formally finalised yet but said that they were prepared to support Accord in artist hospitality and event execution if required. When asked about preparations for Oasis, Aryan explained that the club’s planning began during the Event Pitching Meet. The club then started work on organising themes, budgeting, and event logistics.

As for achieving department status, Aryan explained that the club was looking to achieve probationary department status after this edition of Oasis. After passing two years of probation, the department would then be eligible to become a minor department.

On a parting note, Aryan encouraged students to make the most of Oasis and to participate in as many events as possible. He also commended the StuCCA’s efforts in organising the fest without deductions and highlighted the inclusion of Mohit Chauhan in the professional shows lineup.
