Department of Photography

The Department of Photography (DoPy) has been dealing with a hectic schedule in the weeks leading up to APOGEE with daily practice clicking sessions and an estimate of 2,500 photos taken during the batch snaps that occurred during the previous week. The APOGEE English Press met up with the coordinator of The Department Of Photography, Adhveidh Krishna to get an understanding of the work that has been going into the preparation for the upcoming fest.

DoPy usually takes pictures of people during the fest, known as “DoPy snaps” which are physical photographs of the students of BITS and digital copies for the remaining guests at a nominal fee. Adveidh said that apart from these snaps, this time they will also be setting up a photo booth where people can take photos with numerous props. They will also have a stall where one can create various visual effects with different lighting and brightness settings in your pictures. DoPy will also be selling “DoPy Diaries” with special themes in the form of merchandise for the fest.

Adhveidh said that his experience as the coordinator of DoPy since he has taken over the reins has been rejuvenating. He has enjoyed working with all the members of the department on a daily basis. He also mentioned that there are plans to develop and introduce an app to integrate the process of associating ID numbers with the people in the pictures and the entire billing process afterwards.

While talking about batch snaps that took place the previous weekend, Adhveidh said that he had expected the event to be a busy affair due to inexperienced members from the first and second years behind the camera. This meant that the members in their third and fourth year had to click pictures during their own batch snaps. However, everything proceeded smoothly and the event turned out to be better than anticipated.

The Department Of Photography hopes to build on their good run during batch snaps and maintain their revenue generation. They are expecting to deliver at least 2,000 snaps over the course of the fest.
