Informalz

Managing the barrage of work as APOGEE draws near, Ved Sadani, the Coordinator of the Department of Informalz, met up with the APOGEE English Press to give us an insight on the minutiae of the work in the department.

With its exciting roster of four events being conducted this year—Treasure Hunt, Beg Borrow Steal, Jeopardy, and Wordstock—Informalz has promised to provide maximum thrill and amusement to students through different competition formats.

Treasure Hunt will begin at midnight, with teams advancing to the successive rounds as they keep finding clues. When asked about this year’s theme, the ‘Encrypted Dimension’, Ved said, ‘Treasure Hunt incorporates the theme through its clues but we can’t give away everything.’ Jeopardy, based on the acclaimed American show of the same name, is set to quiz its participants on general aptitude and current affairs while Wordstock, a literature quiz, aims to test their language skills through a series of puzzles. Based on popular demand, this fest will also see the inclusion of Beg Borrow Steal, the beloved event from Oasis. Beg Borrow Steal, essentially a scavenger hunt, will test creative thinking and convincing skills as participants persuade a panel of judges and receive points based on how they interpret the list of items asked to scavenge.

Work for APOGEE is in full force in Informalz with primary focus on Treasure Hunt, the marquee event. ‘This year we got newer ideas because the members were not essentially predisposed to how things used to be,’ said Ved. The members of the department brought something new to the table as none of them had experienced APOGEE in its offline form.

On a parting note, Ved talked about how excited he was to share this year’s events with BITSians and hoped that the students would enjoy the hard work put in by the multitude of departments, clubs, and associations.
