Excitement is at an all-time high at the Department of Photography (DoPy), with the return of Oasis after three years. The Oasis English Press (OEP) sat down with Pritika Ramu, the coordinator of DoPy, to gain insight into their work leading up to the fest.
The primary responsibility of the Department is to continue with the tradition of Fest Snaps. Talking about their legacy, Pritika shared, ‘We met some alumni recently and they were surprised that DoPy was still handing out printed pictures…anybody can take a picture on their phone, but when you reach your final year or after you graduate, it is just a special feeling to go through all of them if you have the physical copy with you.’
They will set up a photo booth as well, where people can click pictures using various props which will have a ‘golden accent’ in accordance with the fest theme. In addition, the Department of Art, Design, and Publicity (ADP) is creating a ‘structure’ for them this year, to be displayed along with the props. The OEP tried to inquire about the details of the structure, but the Department wanted it to remain a surprise for their audience.
Pritika felt that her experience as coordinator has been challenging yet fun. When asked about the problems faced along the way, she mentioned, ‘This is the first Oasis for three batches, with the only experienced ones being fourth years. The late academic session also means that we have not been able to recruit a full working batch.’
She remarked that the technical work to this point has been seamless in execution, and praised StuCCA for their cooperation in budget and inventory sanctions. In conclusion, she said, ‘Never say no to a DoPy Snap!’
